Of Secrets and Serpents Book Review

4.5/5 Stars - Awesome sequel!

It took me way too long to get a review up for this one because I beta read it last year, then I got it for Christmas then I went into a reading slump for months. But here we are! I have now read the finished version of Of Secrets and Serpents.

First off, I'd like to say that as sequels go, this one is really, really good. It did a good job of both continuing the story and raising the stakes for the rest of the series. Just like in Of Liars and Thieves, the worldbuilding was well done. Gabriela also provides some interesting insights into how her magic system works. I also thought that the characters were well-developed. I was particularly invested in the conflict between Aeden and Tedric. Their whole subplot was compelling and conflicting for the reader, and I don't know what to say... Gabriela did a good job.

So, in short, I think that Of Secrets and Serpents is a good fantasy novel and an even better sequel. If you have read and enjoyed Of Liars and Thieves, you will not be disappointed by Of Secrets and Serpents, but you will be hurt emotionally (and probably crave cinnamon bread).
